PNW
Once upon a time a dream wedding fell into my lap. Logan and Dave married at Treehouse Point in Issaquah, WA. To say it was magical would be a crime, but more on them and their treehouse wedding in another post. This post is about the adventure that my second shooter, Jess and I took all over Washington State. We decided to take the week before the wedding to road trip all over the PNW. You should know that traveling with Jess is like having Snow White along for the ride. Animals LOVE her. Wild birds land on her, chipmunks and marmots don’t run and hide, they pose for her. Everywhere we went, all the critters came out to say hello. It was the best bonus ever. I still can’t believe how much we managed to see and do, and we barely scratched the surface of such a beautiful place.
Day 1 - North Cascades National Park and Nooksack Falls
Day 2- Bellingham, WA and Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands
No orcas showed up while we were whale watching, but this humpback whale made up for their absence, along with harbor seals and sea lions. Also, Friday Harbor is one of my favorite places. It’s full of color and character, like someplace that belongs in a Wes Anderson movie.
Day 3 - Madison Falls, and Crescent Lake
Day 4- Olympic National Park: Salmon Cascades, Soleduck Falls, Ruby Beach
One of the best stumble upons of the trip was seeing the salmon run. Frankly, they are kind of hilarious. 10/10 recommend.
Day 5 - Seattle
Day 6 - Mount Rainier National Park, Pinnacle Peak Trail
Day 7 - Franklin Falls, Rattlesnake Ridge, Yakama and Alpine Lakes Wilderness
